A fistful of sky

And then one day, when the sky is cloudy like warm milk and dense as your mother's womb, you will surprise him with all the things he could never bring himself to imagine.

You will fulfill all the promises you didn't make in the first place. You will tear away the cling film wrapped around your frozen dreams and feverishly sigh, as your heart melts under the warmth of his touch.

You will take back every hurtful thing you ever said. All the abuse that got etched into his soul like the lashings of barbed wire. Every single cold and callous moment that buried him further into the clouds of pain. You probably didn't even realise that he only reached out to you when he was drowning but instead of your hand, his hand met the heel of your foot kicking him hard... back into the icy waters.

But someday it will dawn on you... And you will finally realise that he loved you more than the clearest sky. He loved you most of all and you spent your days wondering why.
