I've pulled out the nails from the wooden posts and now all I see are the deep ugly scars. And I don't regret it one bit. If I had known that at the end of it all the only thing I would get was the middle finger, I'd have driven some more nails into those goddamn posts. A million more nails hammered in harder than you could ever imagine. I might not have given it my best but my only regret now is that I did not give it my worst. A terminal illness doesn't always make you wish for more time to live. Sometimes you wish you had gotten the hell out earlier, much earlier. You just wish.
