Take me back to the night we met

I can't remember the last time I felt this way... Weightless, uncomplicated, ridiculously hopeful, and so much myself.

All it takes is a split-second decision to open yourself up to the winds and let them carry you where they may. Because no matter what, you will always always find what you need at the end of the flight.

You pass through familiar sights that you have always loved but you may end up at a place you didn't expect to. You sit across a familiar face but you may end up swimming in a conversation with no precedents and no epilogue either.

You question why you have a such a fondness for a particular colour. Then you realise it may not be the colour so much as the person shrouded in that hue. It rains, it pours, it drizzles and then it halts. The streets of your home town are washed of all its sins... wet concrete reflects the light from the street lamps and the damp space inside your heart is now dry.

What did it take to get to where you are now? You ruminate on the warning signs you received way back when... You couldn't have imagined that they would ever apply to you, but now they do... in parts that should never really add up. But even if they will, only time will tell.

You wonder what you did to deserve someone who stays longer than they said they would and returns sooner than you hope. It makes you think... what if days were like washed up sand upon the shore? And people were like things you discover among the softest grains? You pick the ones that stand out and speak to you... Broken, dishevelled misfits on the outside. But once ensconced in your palms, they are forever embedded in your soul.

The jukebox belts out remnants of another lifetime as your fingers begin to trace patterns on the glass-topped table. You may never return to this place with this person. People will either love you or leave you. Places will either adopt you or spit you out. Dreams will either resurface or disappear without a trace. But you remain. So you get up and leave... for another shot at this thing called survival.
