It's funny, but for someone whose name is actually really short and easy (I think) to pronounce I have quite a few nicknames. Like a well-trained dog, I have to respond to all of them (is it any wonder I'm so confused?).
My family has a nickname for me, my school friends have another, my best friend has several nicknames for me (all of which you can find in the Definitive Book of Abuses), and there is the assortment of college friends and ex-colleagues and other friends who call me by another name. Which is really just a single letter, a syllable, and if you ask me they're all just being plain lazy!
My ex also had a whole set of nicknames for me, all of which I miss tremendously and I know no one else will ever call me by those again. Not even him. But I loved those names especially the one he used most often and when I'm talking to myself in my head (or out loud) or just thinking, I refer to myself by that name.
Actually my dad also has a set of nicknames for me, apart from the family one, and yes you can find most of them in the afore mentioned book. Those two (my dad and best friend) are in cahoots, I tell you! And they are often joined by my brother.
Marmalade calls me Jamtin and whatever else comes to her mind, at any given point of time. No, none of them make sense.
But the funniest nickname I've been given, I think I'm actually going to share with you (shudder shudder).
Quarter.
Yes, you read that right.
It's quarter.
A friend from the (not so) old days calls me that. And even though we don't live in the same city anymore, on the rare occasions that we talk on the phone or chat online there it is bright and cheery - quarter!!!!
How and why he calls me that? That's a story for another day...
Btw, the comments link on my blog actually works. It's not here for decorative purposes alone (like I used to think initially) and can be used to react/respond to my posts. So say something please, whether you know me or not, whether you like me or not, whether you have a blogger account or not - it doesn't matter.

At school the boys called my sister Sugar and I was young Sugar. Happy Days!
