Life

My favourite version of this famous South American song. The singer, Mercedes Sosa, had a voice that was both comforting and overwhelming as the earth itself.

This was originally a folk song written by famous Chilean artist,Violeta Parra.

Gracias A La Vida means "Thanks to Life", in Spanish.

Ironically, Parra committed suicide in 1967 by shooting herself in the head.

I find a haunting melancholy in the song.
