Clarity could come knocking at your door in the dead of the night, at 2:30 am, in a place you don't belong, with someone who has never touched your soul. And if you're lucky, you will be awake.
Sometimes the only thing worse than the pain that knocks you down is the pain that locks you inside. And there's nothing you can do but lie back, hold still, and let the two pains fight it out. They will get entangled and entwined and wring you dry and lifeless in the process but eventually, they will emerge as two different entities - the defeated and the vanquished. You may not realize it at the time but there can only be one winner, and that is you. One pain knocked out, one more to go.
The hardest blows result in the cleanest cuts. And it's best when you're wielding the cleaver yourself.
It takes great courage to admit the things you want to yourself, things that you have been most afraid of pursuing. And then it takes great foolishness to share those coveted thoughts with the people you trust. But do it anyway because it's the good kind of foolishness, like continuing to believe in Santa Claus or unicorns. Be brave and be foolish.
