It’s never enough
You’re never enough
First you don’t love enough
You’re not there enough
You can’t commit enough
You don’t stay long enough
Then you’re too much
You love too much
You’re too intense
You’re always there
You never leave soon
Enough
And it’s always different people
Needing you less or more
So you adjust and you recalibrate
A little more here
A lot less there
Put in just the right amount there
And leave out just enough here
Then you wonder when it will all end
Because to yourself you have always been
Enough
Just enough
And then you think of the rain
How it comes down pouring where it’s most needed
And stays shy of the places that can do without
But sometimes, the rain makes mistakes too
So you have floods in wet places
And droughts in dry places
And then you know that you can never
Really be just enough for anyone else but
You.
