Leaving never happens all at
once.
It stretches on for weeks and months and sometimes, even years.
Only, you just don’t see it playing out the way it does.
The first to leave is integrity. It happens with the first lie told.
The next to make an exit is your spine.
It walks out the door one vertebrae at a time, over weeks and months.
That is quickly followed by your desire for the flame that once burned bright, deep inside the recesses of your neatly compartmentalized heart.
So, the next time someone
asks you about leaving and when and how it happened, remember this.It stretches on for weeks and months and sometimes, even years.
You may
never be able to pinpoint the exact place in time.
And it doesn’t matter if they’re asking about the ones who left or your own retreat.
One of the ironies of life is that we all think of ourselves as unique, when we’re all really just the same.
We all leave in the same way.
Just as we meet and align in the same way.
And it doesn’t matter if they’re asking about the ones who left or your own retreat.
One of the ironies of life is that we all think of ourselves as unique, when we’re all really just the same.
We all leave in the same way.
Just as we meet and align in the same way.
The only difference is what the leaving does to each of us.
It could create craters in your soul or it could it turn you into the stream of faith that you didn’t know you had within you.
But then again, it can just leave you untouched.

But then again, it can just leave you untouched.
