Ice pack

Have you ever had to deal with a heel spur? It's one of the most uncomfortable things ever and since you need your feet to move around, you're in constant pain. Even when you're resting with your feet up... there's just no respite. Until you grab an ice pack from your freezer, wrap it in a towel and place your foot on it. The ensuing relief is not just welcome, it almost feels like rescue from a lifetime of agony. While the pain doesn't fully disappear, the drastic reduction in the intensity is enough to keep you going for well over a few hours, until you reach for the ice pack again. And it makes you wish for the ice pack and the freezer that holds it to both be kissed by angels.

Certain situations in life metaphorically feel like the painful hobbling around with a heel spur and the moments you spend chasing succour from it all. You feel battered and bruised, and drained of all your energy. If you're an empath dealing with narcissistic vampires, then the situation is uglier. All of us get our hearts broken more often than we care to remember, but it's when our spirits are broken that we truly begin to realise how much of our selves we have carelessly given to the wrong people and activities. Realisation comes with its own set of demons that need slaying and so you brace yourself for another day.

In the midst of it all, the Universe hands you an ice pack without your having to ask - the discovery of an old notebook filled with precious remnants of another lifetime, a phone call from an acquaintance that leads to opportunities that align with your dreams, a beautiful blast from the past replete with reminisces of romance and passion and dreams and hopes, a chance meeting with a spice seller whose story inspires you, late-night conversations with a soulmate, friends who never give up on you, fake friends who reveal their true selves at just the right time so you are spared the worst, a reminder that you are flawless and desirable even with all your so-called imperfections declared by the society you live in.

Everything happens in a wonderfully-strung orchestration that can only be termed as magical. The cold impact of the ice numbs away the throbbing pain and as the soreness melts away, you begin to feel better. You smile in anticipation of the coming weeks and whisper a prayer of gratitude to that big freezer that connects us all - the ever-churning Universe.

Soul spurs.

And you've found a way to relieve them. <3

I walk. Listen to music. Cook. Dance while I cook. Stare at the ocean.

My poor sister suffers from a heel spur.

Hey GG, I used to do all the same things too when I lived alone. Sigh... I miss those days.
Your sister has my sympathies! Ask her to take curcumin (turmeric extract). It's helped me considerably.
