Things you can tell by looking at her face

If nothing ever happens. If we never meet again. If you go away. I'll always remember such tenderness.

Someone once said that to her. She remembered the night clearly. It was pouring outside. She was in an apartment on the top floor, sitting by the window, watching the rain come down in sheets. There was thunder, there was lightning, there was this fire in her belly. And it didn't come from a burning desire to do something. It was courtesy the Black & White that she had recently fallen in love with.

She was in love, still. Deeply, madly and completely. The same as she is today. The way she had been all those years ago. She longed for their feet to touch while they lazed on the couch watching sub-titled movies and sipping sour wine. She longed for their lips to meet as they sleepily opened their eyes each morning. The years had rolled by and not much had changed. She loved him still. She was still in love with him.

But someone said those words to her that night and it wasn't him.

To be continued.

A hard lesson to learn - a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

I'm a sucker for love stories that didn't happen. Beauty in sadness and all that.
